🕰Clock Making🕰

By ChennaiMom

Baby Moo gets fascinated on hearing the grown ups say “What’s the time now?” For which he answers immediately “8:00,6:35,10:35,… clock” (always) or “No” (when he is in a grumpy mood) 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

So in order to get him to learn the basic language of clock, Mommy made this super fun-to-make hands-on-activity, “Clock Making” for him, to make his very own clock all by himself while learning some math along 😎

Materials Required:

  • A4 sheet paper / Cardboard
  • Pencil
  • Compass (optional)
  • Scale
  • Felt sheet (optional)
  • Pipe cleaner(optional)
  • Pushpin 📌
  • Glue
  • Scissor
  • Velcro

The Making:

  • Take the A4 sheet/thick cardboard and draw a circle either by free hand or using a compass and also Use a scale to mark the areas on the circle for the numbers on the clock as shown below 👇🏻

(For the base of our clock I have used the cake base which are super sturdy)

  • Cut the similar size circle from the felt sheet (Color of your choice) and glue it on the cardboard as shown below 👇🏻

  • Write and Cut the numbers on each cardboard squares such that all the squares fits inside the clock circle ⭕️
  • Glue the rough part of Velcro on the back of the squares (and the smooth ones on the circle if you are not using the felt circle means)

(I made use of the number Squares from 🔢I Can Count Puzzle🔢 activity )

  • Either you can.. cut and bend the pipe cleaners (two arms–the hours and minutes for the clock) and make a loop around the push pin and push it in the middle of the clock and bend the pin at the back as shown below👇🏻

  • Or you can also cut two arms from the cardboard and place it in the middle with a push pin as shown below 👇🏻

  • Finally, place them with their parts on a plate and teach your toddler in detail on how to build the clock and have fun my lovelies 😍

  • And also you can write the timings (of your choice) on the cardboard papers and place it for them to make the given time

The following pics shows how he enjoyed with the pipe cleaners as the clock arms 👇🏻

In this digitally inspired clock world it would be a great first choice to teach your kids with the analog clock which helps them to understand the time more precisely 😎

[Once your little one gets the basic concept you can teach them further on by how to tell the times like 12:35,10:40.. with the minutes...]

This was indeed a fun little project to do with your super energetic little ones 😉

Stay tuned!!! For more activities from the ChennaiMom 🙏🏻❤️
